Rabbi Dr. David Flatto is a professor of law, religion, and history at Penn State Law. He has served as a visiting professor and lecturer at Hebrew University Law School, NYU Law School and Yeshiva University, and a visiting researcher at Yale Law School. Experienced as an educator and lecturer, he was honored in 2003 with a Teacher Recognition Award from the U.S. Department of Education. His research interests include legal history, constitutional law and theory, and Jewish and comparative jurisprudence. His works have appeared in Yale Journal of Law and Humanities, Yale Law Journal Pocket Part, Journal of Law and Religion, NYU Law Global Hauser Series, Dine Israel, Hebraic Political Studies, AJS Review, Commentary and Tradition. During the 2011-2012 academic year Professor Flatto was a visiting scholar at NYU Law School, Tikvah Center. He is currently completing a book entitled "Justice Unbound: Separation of Powers in the Early Jewish Imagination" (forthcoming Harvard University Press). He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University, a J.D. from Columbia University, and a B.A. and rabbinic ordination from Yeshiva University.
