Dr. Nehemia Polen is a Professor of Jewish Thought at Boston's Hebrew College. He is the author of The Holy Fire: The Teachings of Rabbi Kalonymus Shapira, Rebbe of the Warsaw Ghetto, and is a contributing commentator to My People’s Prayer Book. His Ph.D. is from Boston University, where he was a teaching fellow for Nobel laureate Elie Wiesel. Prior to his career in Jewish academia, Polen served for 23 years as a congregational rabbi. His book The Rebbe’s Daughter is a recipient of a National Jewish Book Award.
